Desperate Housewives star Shawn Pyfrom, who plays Bree's gay son
Andrew on the show, has announced he is leaving to pursue other
interests.
The actor has however said that he may appear as an occasional
guest star throughout the upcoming sixth season.
Andrew's character has not been as prominent in recent seasons
after the he was outed in a swimming pool romp with then-
boyfriend Justin (played by Ryan Carnes).
He was then featured often in the show as he and his Republican
mother battled out their differences, with show creator Marc
Cherry describing Andrew as a narcissistic sociopath in an
interview with USA Today as his war with Bree took several
strange turns.
However, since mother and son's reconcilliation the character
has been pushed to the background as the show focused on other
characters.
The shows most recent season took advantage of a five-year
flash-forward and the nationwide same-sex marriage debate with
Andrew becoming engaged, and Bree, having finally accepted her
son, offering to plan the wedding.
Andrews departure from Desperate Housewives doesnt completely
strip Wisteria Lane of gay characters. Lee McDermott (Kevin
Rahm) and Bob Hunter (Tuc Watkins) remain in the show as a gay
couple living on the lane.
A loser show trying to push a loser lifestyle on gullible women
who don't work for a living.
